Cousins weekend... take 2!

We had another family weekend with the Thompson's, this time with Jeanne Ann's side. We had a great time! Look out boys - there are 3 new beautiful little girls in this family!! Charlotte is becoming quite the little traveler - she doesn't love the car yet but we get by with books and toys and her music. She slept great in her bassinet and was a happy girl when she was up!

What a good lookin' bunch!

Lake Weekend

We had another great weekend at Cedar Creek. We had beautiful weather FINALLY - we are so excited that spring has sprung! Ryan and Holly came out to meet the little lady and hang out. We had a great time catching up with them after way too long! They brought Charlotte the most beautiful crystal butterfly for her nursery. It is so special. We stayed up way too late sitting by the fire, making s'mores and looking at the stars but it was worth it!

House Update!

They have made tons of progress on the house since our last visit to Austin... thank goodness we have our own personal photographers to send us daily pics!! David and David go to check on the house every afternoon and give us an update - it is so nice! We can't wait to visit this weekend and show the little miss her room!!!

View from the kitchen out the back - beautiful!!!

Two monther!!

My dear Charlotte, I can't believe 2 months have flown by! You are really changing these days. You are a great sleeper, sleeping from 7 or 8 pm to 7 or 8 am, only waking up once at 2 or 3 to nurse for a few minutes. (I could probably make you cry it out, but I secretly love the quiet snuggling time now that I am back at work during the day. And besides that, I still can't stand to hear you cry.) You are awake a lot more during the day and becoming such a happy baby. You are really focusing on things and taking in the world around you. Your smile is to die for. I love you.

2 month likes:
The morning (daddy's girl!!!), laying on your back and kicking, sunshine - either laying in the sun in the window or being outside, walks, taking Macy to the park, your books, your jungle toy from Uncle Vinny, being talked too, singing and rocking with Dad, your bed, being held, taking a bath with your mama, Dad's iPhone (you love the noise maker app - it is like your pacifier!)

Dislikes:
Your carseat, evening time, being cold, mom talking or being distracted while you're nursing. That's really all I can think of, you are a pretty happy girl!

2 month stats:
Weight: 11 lb 15 oz (75-90%!!)
Length: 22 1/2 inches (50%)
Head circumference: 36 cm (50%)

2 month photo shoot!!!

Smile!!!!

p.s. I wrote this on her 2 month birthday.... now (2 weeks later) she is sleeping through the night!!!! And we never had to let her cry - yeah!!!!!

So sweet.

I just love this picture. We still haven't convinced Owen that it would be fun to hold Charlotte so this is as close as we could get. I just can't wait to see these two running around together in a few years. I hope they are the best of buddies.

Thompson cousins reunion

The Thompson cousins are quite a great bunch. They organized a weekend get together to laugh and reminisce and create another memory with David Ray. We had beautiful weather and a great time watching all of the little ones play outside together. Uncle Bo made a 2 hour video of 18 years of memories and it was so much fun to watch. I learned even more about what an amazing family they have and how much they love each other.

Playing and soaking up the sun - yea for spring!

Cousins being silly.... it's amazing how you regress back to childhood when you get back together!!

OK... now a serious one.

Another generation!

Crested Butte

So... it's not finalized yet BUT we are so excited that Pops might be getting a condo in Crested Butte!! We LOVE to go to Colorado, and Crested Butte is one of our favorite little towns. How much fun would it be if you could grow up with all of your cousins skiing, sledding and playing in the SNOW!!!! You already have your first ski vest and Uggs and you are ready to hit the slopes!

Bottle battle.

So... I've always been taught that to ensure successful breastfeeding, you should not offer a bottle too early. So that's what we did. Perfect. Until we did give you a bottle at 1 month. And you gagged and spit and screamed and refused to take it. It was awful. Your dad was so patient but he was not about to win this battle. And I was in tears. Four brands of bottles and lots of persuading and FINALLY you decided that it wasn't so bad. And then you sucked the whole thing down. And then when you did take it I cried again. This time because you didn't need me anymore. This whole mommy thing is quite an emotional rollercoaster!

LOVE when you twirl your tiny bit of hair - so cute.

Uncle David

It makes me so sad to think that you have to learn at such a young age that life isn't fair... even though you are way too young to understand our sadness, I know that you know that it is there. Your Uncle David has been sick for such a short time and we have been told that he is not going to be here with us too much longer. It is so hard to accept, sometimes I don't understand God's plans for us. It will surely be a challenge to help you understand how He can allow such sadness in this world. We are all standing on His promise that we will all be together again someday, that is the only thing keeping us going. Just like Grandma Charlotte taught us, we will say "see you later", not "goodbye" because we know we will see Uncle David again soon.

In the meantime, we sure have a lot to learn from him. He is an amazing person. He has an amazing faith and says he is ready to go home to Jesus. Wow. He truly appreciates all of the beauty in this world and all of the simple things in life that he has been given. He loves the beach. He loves the lake. He loves animals, especially his two babies. He doesn't expect anything. He is forever grateful for anything anyone does for him, even the smallest gestures. He sees the inner beauty in all people and is an amazing friend. He doesn't judge others. He has a heart of gold. He would drop anything to do something for someone else, especially his baby brother. He doesn't feel sorry for himself. Even now when he is sick, he reaches out to others. He is a wonderful husband. He loves his family. He has learned that the greatest things in life aren't "things" at all. He ALWAYS calls me "little sister", which I think is so sweet. I have never had a big brother. He never hangs up or says goodbye without saying I love you.

We are so grateful that you got to meet your Uncle David. You are one lucky lady. We sure hope we can instill some of his amazing qualities in you. We know that we will never have to worry about you because you will have one heck of a guardian angel watching over you.

We love you Uncle David.

3 - 6 weeks... adorable.

It won't be like this for long....

"He didn't have to wake up
He'd been up all night
Layin’there in bed listenin’
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be okay.

It won’t be like this for long
One day we'll look back laughin’
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
‘Cause it won't be like this for long.

He lays down there beside her
‘Til her eyes are finally closed
And just watchin’ her it breaks his heart
Cause he already knows

It won’t be like this for long
One day soon that little girl is gonna be
All grown up and gone
Yeah, this phase is gonna fly by
So, he's tryin’ to hold on
'Cause it won’t be like this for long."

I love the words to this Darius Rucker song. It is hard to fight the tears when I hear it, I can't stand to think of you all grown up and gone. I know your dad will have an even harder time with that than I will!! You and him already have such a special bond. His chest is definitely one of your favorite places to be. When you're fussy he holds you and sings Alan Jackson's hymns and you go right to sleep. So sweet. As much as I hate leaving you to go to work, I love that you two have that time alone. It is such a special time that most daughters and daddies don't have. I can't wait to watch your relationship grow through the years!
